Summary

Weber State University seeks an experienced Associate Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer to lead strategic direction and management of IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT teams serving over 30,000 students and thousands of faculty and staff across multiple campuses.

Key Responsibilities: Oversee strategic IT planning, enterprise systems and applications, network and data infrastructure, cybersecurity operations, academic and administrative technology services, help desk and user support, and day-to-day management of IT teams.

Job Summary/Basic Function:

Weber State University, located in Ogden, Utah, seeks applicants for the position of Associate Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer ( CIO ).

The AVP of Information Technology and CIO is a managerial leader responsible for the strategic direction, oversight, and day-to-day management of the institution’s information technology infrastructure, enterprise-wide systems, cybersecurity operations, and IT teams. This senior administrative position is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and maintenance of all institutional technology assets. This position reports to the Vice President for Administrative Services.

Responsibilities include management of the following: strategic IT planning, enterprise systems and applications, network and data infrastructure, cybersecurity, academic and administrative technology services, help desk and user support, and other responsibilities. WSU’s technology environment serves a student body of over 30,000 and several thousand faculty, staff, and hourly employees across multiple campuses and online learning platforms.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 years of significant professional experience in an information technology management department or other similar professional management work
  • 5 years of leadership experience over technical teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • A record of sound leadership at a senior management level in a large, complex organization
  • Strong budgetary experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
