Summary

Newsela is building a talent pool for Sales Representative positions across School, SMB, Mid-Market, and Enterprise segments, focusing on full-cycle sales professionals with education/edtech expertise to expand its growing sales team across the United States.

Key Responsibilities: Sales Representatives will manage the entire sales lifecycle including pipeline management, lead generation campaigns, forecasting, and building relationships with key decision makers in school districts. They will become versed in their territory's funding, state initiatives, and K-12 education landscape to inform sales strategy.
Skills & Tools: Candidates should have strong SaaS sales experience, lead generation and business development capabilities, networking and prospecting expertise, knowledge of sales methodologies like MEDDPICC, and demonstrated forecasting accuracy. Required soft skills include drive, self-awareness, coachability, and the ability to close deals.
Qualifications: Minimum experience varies by segment: 1+ years for School sales, 2+ years for SMB, 3+ years for Mid-Market, and 5+ years for Enterprise, all with proven track records of hitting or exceeding quota selling SaaS products or digital education solutions to schools.

The role: 

As a Sales Representative, you will be part of a regional sales team and the overall face of Newsela in the market. You’ll be responsible for building relationships with key decision makers at the school district level in addition to selling Newsela’s suite of products to bring engaging reading content to districts. In your day to day, you will do everything from pipeline management and forecasting to designing lead generation campaigns and managing sales through the entire lifecycle. You will also become well-versed in your territory’s funding, state initiatives, demographics, and K-12 education landscape, which will help inform your overall sales strategy.

Compensation: 

We offer a competitive base salary, uncapped commission, and benefits. On-target commission may vary slightly based on territory. 

School: 

  • Base: $60,000
  • On-target commission: $60,000
  • On-target earnings: $120,000

SMB: 

  • Base: $70,000
  • On-target commission: $69,500
  • On-target earnings: $139,500

Mid-Market: 

  • Base: $100,000
  • On-target commission: $110,000
  • On-target earnings: $210,000 

Enterprise: 

  • Base: $125,000
  • On-target commission: $150,000
  • On-target earnings: $275,000
