Summary

Vice President of Learning Experience Design leading a 40+ person creative team at Savvas Learning Company to drive print and digital product design strategy for K-12 educational products used nationally and internationally. This leadership role shapes the future of user-centric designs that enhance learning experiences across the company's product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities: Manage design and information architecture across all Savvas products, oversee a team of direct reports in creative design, art, animation, gaming, and multimedia creation, and communicate product vision to stakeholders across the organization. Ensure design excellence, implement UI testing standards, drive consistency across products, and manage development budgets while supporting direct reports' performance and fostering a culture of design excellence.
Skills & Tools: Demonstrated thought leadership in creative and interaction design with strong innovation and change management capabilities; excellent collaboration skills across multilevel teams and ability to balance design, business, and technology perspectives.
Qualifications: 15+ years of experience as a manager in creative visual/graphic design and interaction design with a proven track record of leading large teams. Expertise in product design strategy, user-centric design, and strategic portfolio development required.
Location: Chicago, Illinois (also available in New York, New Jersey, or Chandler, Arizona)
Compensation: Not provided by employer. Typical compensation for this role is $180,000 – $240,000/year based on title, seniority, and location.

Job Description

Savvas is looking for an accomplished creative leader to lead the Learning Experience Design team of over 40 staff. The Vice President will drive Savvas’ print and digital product design strategy, with responsibility for providing leadership in the development of innovative, engaging, and highly effective user-centric designs that enhance the user experience of our K-12 learning products. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to have a significant impact on our educational products in use across the country and internationally.
Responsibilities

Own the product design and information architecture across Savvas, ensuring athoughtful, consistent UX that scales across all Savvas Products.

Manage a team of direct reports across Creative Design, Art, Animation & Gaming, and Multimedia creation.

Plans and implements the standards for design concepts and implementation, playing a key role in envisioning, defining and shaping the future of our products.

Effectively communicates the product vision and design and UX to key partners across all levels of the company.

Ensures products are innovative and meet high standards of usability and design excellence.

Provides design leadership to technical teams by fostering a shared understanding ofcustomer-centric intersection between design, business, and technology through on-going application reviews.

Works across the core content development teams to define and execute on the end-to-endcustomer experience.

Collaborates with product development teams on process improvements and tool implementation to support those processes. Makes sure that the procedure for UI testing and design is accommodated appropriately in the product development process.

Drives continuity and consistency in design across products to ensure we exceed the customers’ expectations and meet our business goals of developing market-leading programs.

Ensures efficient reuse of digital templates, provides input on assessments and reports in digitalenvironment, and works with Research to validate digital instructional design.

Participates in the development of the Group investment portfolio. Accountable for managing thedevelopment expense to the approved plant and operating budget for all programs and products.

Facilitates the success of direct reports in meeting their (and their teams') goals by supporting them in turning their strengths into higher performance, and by supporting them to improve on their weaknesses.

Builds a culture of design excellence within the organization, establishing high expectations forstrategy, delivery of highly engaging designs and leveraging of best practices for delivery.

Qualifications

15+ years of experience as a manager across creative visual/graphic design, and interaction design

Demonstrated track record of thought leadership, innovation, and change management

Strong collaboration skills with multilevel teams within the organization

Role can be filled in NYC, New Jersey, Chicago, or Chandler, AZ.
