In this role, you’ll engineer digital analytics solutions that illuminate the student journey, helping us understand behaviors, optimize experiences, and deliver outcomes that matter.

You’ll be part of a collaborative, cross-functional team that includes experts in Data Engineering, Product Management, EdTech, and Marketing. Your work will directly influence how we engage with students—from their first click to graduation—by building scalable, high-quality analytics systems that power smarter decisions and better experiences.

What you'll do

  • Engineer digital analytics solutions that capture behavioral data across web and mobile platforms, enabling insights into student engagement and success.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements, collaborating with stakeholders across departments to ensure analytics solutions are aligned with strategic goals.
  • Design and maintain analytics codebases, including tag management systems, data layers, and quality assurance frameworks.
  • Lead medium-scale projects with autonomy, driving execution from concept to deployment while mentoring junior engineers.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity, troubleshooting complex issues and collaborating with data partners to uphold university-wide standards.
  • Document and share knowledge, creating accessible resources that support institutional learning and operational efficiency.
  • Stay ahead of the curve, continuously learning and applying new technologies and methodologies to improve analytics capabilities.
  • Champion data privacy and security, ensuring compliance with university policies and industry best practices.

What you bring Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Intelligence, etc.)
  • 5+ years of experience in digital analytics engineering or a closely related domain
  • Strong proficiency in:
  • Tag Management Systems (Adobe Experience Platform, Google Tag Manager, Tealium iQ)
  • Front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Data layer design (JSON, Adobe Client Data Layer, XDM)
  • Quality assurance tools (ObservePoint, Selenium)
  • API integrations (REST, HTTP, Postman)
  • Web analytics platforms (Adobe Analytics, A/B testing tools)
  • Experience with project management tools (JIRA) and methodologies (Agile, Scrum)
  • Advanced Excel and diagramming tools (Miro, Visio, Lucidchart)

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with WGU’s KPIs and student success metrics
  • Experience mentoring peers and contributing to cross-functional initiatives

Position & Application Details
