Summary

Lead and oversee the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of projects at Ascend Learning, a purpose-driven organization impacting lives through educational and healthcare solutions. Drive project success through cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities: Define project scopes, goals, and deliverables while developing and managing project plans, timelines, and budgets. Monitor progress, identify risks, allocate resources, lead cross-functional teams, and communicate project status to stakeholders.
Skills & Tools: Project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall), proficiency in project management software, strong leadership, communication, and analytical abilities. Ability to manage risks, drive continuous improvement, and foster collaborative team environments.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 7+ years of project management experience required. PMP or PRINCE2 certifications are preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL DO  

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the successful planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of projects within the organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure project objectives are met on time, within budget, and with high quality. The Project Manager will utilize project management methodologies, tools, and techniques to drive project success, manage risks, and effectively communicate project status and progress to stakeholders. A team player looking to make a significant impact. 

WHERE YOU’LL WORK  

This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS office, preferred. Remote will be considered.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME 

  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. 
  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets, utilizing project management software and tools. 
  • Allocate resources, including team members and external vendors, to ensure project tasks are assigned and completed effectively. 
  • Lead and motivate cross-functional project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing project environment. 
  • Monitor and track project progress, identifying potential risks and issues, and implementing mitigation strategies as needed. 
  • Communicate project updates, status, and key milestones to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • Manage project documentation, including project charters, requirements, change requests, and lessons learned, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for future reference. 
  • Conduct regular project meetings, coordinating and facilitating effective communication and collaboration among project team members. 
  • Drive continuous improvement by analyzing project performance and implementing best practices and lessons learned in future projects. 
  • Ensure projects are delivered with high quality, meeting stakeholder expectations and delivering value to the organization. 
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to project managers, promoting professional growth and development within the PMO team. 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, or a related field required. A master's degree is a plus. 
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in project management-related field (e.g. Consulting, Finance, Operations, and Portfolio Management), with a proven track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget. 
  • Waterfall, Agile, and SAFe Development process experience. 
  • Project management certifications such as PMP or PRINCE2 are highly desirable. 
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of project management principles, methodologies, and best practices. 
  • Proficiency in using project management software and tools to manage project plans, timelines, and resources. 
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail. 
  • Ability to develop and execute change management strategies at various levels within an organization. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize workload effectively. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. 
  • Experience creating project budgets and assessing projects/programs financial data.
