Summary

Lead quality initiatives as a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst at Sophia Learning to ensure high-quality, user-centric software through strategic test design, automation framework development, and accessibility testing. Mentor QA team members while collaborating closely with engineering and product teams to drive continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities: Design and implement comprehensive test strategies for web and backend services, build and maintain test automation frameworks using Capybara and Cucumber, and lead accessibility testing efforts to ensure WCAG compliance. Mentor QA team members, analyze test results, collaborate with cross-functional teams on CI/CD integration, and actively participate in Agile ceremonies.
Skills & Tools: Proficiency in test automation frameworks (Capybara, Cucumber, Gherkin), intermediate to advanced SQL querying, REST API testing tools like Postman, and accessibility standards knowledge. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and capability to multitask across concurrent projects.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience required. Minimum 7+ years of software quality assurance experience with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
Location: Remote from United States of America, with up to 10% travel required.

As a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst, you will lead quality initiatives with a focus on delivering high-quality, user-centric software. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure our products meet the highest standards for performance, usability, and accessibility. You will also drive the continued advancement of test automation across the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Partners with an Sr. Engineering Manager to prioritize work for a quality assurance team.
  • Design and implement comprehensive test strategies for web and backend services, covering functional, integration, regression, performance, and accessibility testing.
  • Build and maintain test automation frameworks using Gherkin, Capybara, and Cucumber.
  • Develop and execute both manual and automated test cases across a variety of devices and screen sizes to ensure responsive design compatibility.
  • Lead accessibility testing efforts to ensure compliance with WCAG standards and legal requirements.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve quality strategies, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, UX designers, and DevOps engineers to integrate testing into the CI/CD pipeline and foster a culture of quality.
  • Analyze test results, triage issues, and communicate findings clearly and effectively to development teams.
  • Mentor and support QA team members, promoting best practices and a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives, to align QA activities with product and engineering objectives.
  • Evaluates and documents defects - including detailing the steps to reproduce the defects, assigning severity, and assessing overall impact to users and other areas of the product.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and tools.
  • Skilled in testing for responsive design across devices, browsers, and operating systems.
  • Familiarity with browser developer tools, REST API testing, and tools such as Postman.
  • Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, and test management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to evaluate multiple scenarios and outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and collaboration skills. Must be capable and comfortable multi-tasking between concurrent projects and tasks.
  • Must have intermediate to advanced experience querying SQL databases to verify results.
  • Experience working in a hybrid model of onsite and offshore testing.

Work Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in software quality assurance
  • 2+ years leadership experience.

Education:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or an equivalent level of experience in computer science/information technology.

  • Must be able to travel 0-10 % of the time.
  • Must be able to lift 20lbs.
  • Typical office setting.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
