Position Title: Director, Strategic Operations (Fractional)

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) 

Location: Remote (U.S. based)

Position Overview

The Director, Strategic Operations will play a critical role in shaping Mursion’s operational strategy. Reporting directly to the CEO, this person will oversee the Talent Operations team and lead forecasting, demand modeling, and cross-functional planning to ensure our delivery model scales efficiently with business growth. Through effective people management and integration of financial, operational, and GTM data, this role transforms complex insights into actionable strategies that drive resource allocation, efficiency, and innovation across the business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Forecasting & Resource Planning

  • Build and maintain forward-looking models to project staffing needs, simulation/coaching capacity, and resource utilization.
  • Analyze usage trends, pipeline data, and customer demand to inform budget, headcount, and investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with GTM and Finance teams to translate growth goals into scalable workforce strategies and budget models.
  • Connect operational metrics (e.g., utilization, delivery capacity) with financial indicators (e.g., cost per session, gross margin) to monitor and improve performance.

2. Operational Execution & Team Support

  • Partner with the Director of Talent Operations to support day-to-day management of the simulation and coaching teams, ensuring effective execution and supporting growth and development. 
  • Maintain visibility into staffing, scheduling, and delivery capacity to proactively address challenges and ensure alignment with organizational needs.

3. Process Optimization & Systems Improvement

  • Drive improvements in workflows, data accuracy, and tooling to increase efficiency and reliability across delivery operations.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that improve speed, cost-effectiveness, and transparency in service delivery.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in people operations, resource-management, logistics, FP&A, or business analytics
  • AI power-user with an “AI-first” approach to problem solving
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills and experience with financial modeling, scenario planning, and BI tools (e.g., Quicksight, Tableau, Looker)
  • Strong analytical and business acumen; able to distill complex data into actionable insights for executive stakeholders
  • Proven track record of driving operational improvements and leading cross-functional projects
  • Proven people leader with a supportive and solutions-oriented leadership style
  • Familiarity with human-AI collaboration, hybrid intelligence, or human-in-the-loop product models is a strong plus
  • Experience in SaaS or startup environments preferred
