The Opportunity

To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Director of Pricing and Packaging to join our Product Marketing Leadership team. This role will be responsible for working across Product, Product Marketing, GTM, and Ops to develop and execute monetization strategies for new and existing offerings, with a direct and quantifiable impact on our customers, partners, and P&L. You will develop a holistic approach to pricing & packaging, including overall portfolio design and segment-specific pricing strategies to ensure operational excellence in how we make pricing & packaging decisions. You will also analyze, develop perspective, and effectively communicate key pricing trends to leadership to inform strategic decisions. 

The role requires someone who is highly analytical, understands key pricing and packaging trade-offs, approaches problems in a structured manner, and is comfortable with ambiguity.

As a Director of Pricing and Packaging, you will be responsible for . . .  

  • Market Trend Analysis & Interpretation: Dive deep into market trends and the competitive landscape, providing insightful and actionable recommendations that ensure our strategies are customer-centric and poised for exciting future growth!
  • Process Development: Foster an organized, company-wide approach to pricing and packaging. This entails working across teams to create a harmonious design for our overall portfolio and tailoring specific pricing strategies to meet diverse segment needs.
  • Growth Acceleration: Propel revenue growth by brainstorming and implementing innovative product monetization strategies across our impressive product portfolio.
  • Pricing and Packaging Optimization: Leverage analytics to uncover opportunities for improving our packaging offerings. We’ll model the effects of any adjustments using insights from product usage, retention, and financial data to drive impactful decisions.
  • Pricing Governance Leadership: Take the lead in the Pricing and Packaging Committee, fostering collaboration across functions to establish clear policies and ensure consistency in pricing practices.
  • Collaborative Engagement: Work with cross-functional teams, including Product Marketing, Product Management, Finance, Business Operations, and Go-To-Market teams, to enhance our collective impact.

Qualifications

  • A solid foundation with 7+ years of experience in the technology industry, ideally in Pricing & Packaging, Monetization, Business Planning, Product Marketing, or Corporate Strategy roles.
  • A minimum of 5 years specifically in Pricing & Packaging or a related area, showcasing your depth of knowledge.
  • A proven ability to develop and implement successful pricing and packaging strategies within technology businesses.
  • Exceptional communication skills that enable you to build alignment on monetization strategies among peers and executives alike.
  • A strong grasp of pricing frameworks, trade-offs, and their real-world implications.
  • Analytical expertise in synthesizing large datasets to extract unique insights.
  • Experience in leading customer research initiatives, including quantitative pricing surveys like conjoint analysis and Van Westendorp, to guide our pricing and packaging decisions.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, or a related quantitative field.

Grammarly takes a market-based approach to compensation, which means base pay may vary depending on your location. Our US locations are categorized into two compensation zones based on proximity to our hub locations.

Base pay may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The expected salary ranges for this position are outlined below by compensation zone and may be modified in the future.

Zone 1: $271,000 – $322,000/year (USD)
