WHAT YOU'LL DO 

As a Manager of Content at Jones & Bartlett Learning you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the content manager team including assigning tasks, evaluating performance, determining team goals, and handling personnel matters. This position is also the Learning Content Manager (LCM) between ILAS and the PDT. This entails building relationships cross functionally to be the liaison between ILAS, product, and ITS. You will work with vendors, outside individuals, and business partners across Ascend. You will manage the content of assigned projects from build plan through development to market launch. You will retain ownership of the product lifecycle and ensure that consistent, high-quality content is delivered on time, in alignment with the product build plans developed by the Product teams.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK 

This position will work a hybrid schedule from our Leawood, KS or Burlington, MA office location preferred. Remote will be considered within the United States.      

HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR TIME

  • Supervise and develop multiple team members and review and provide feedback to staff on their assignments.
  • Provide strategic guidance throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Effectively share risks, mitigations, and tradeoff options to cross-functional stakeholders across the product development lifecycle.
  • Work on departments capacity plan.
  • Manage authors and reviewer relationships when needed. 
  • Build strong relationships across technical product, business product, and business content strategy to ensure alignment and transparent communication and updates ultimately leading to successful delivery.
  • Work as a partner to the product team in developing new product ideas or capabilities.
  • Work on process improvements and partner with the production team as needed.
  • Determine training gaps for the department and devise a plan for that training.
  • Collaborate with internal production stakeholders and address any errors introduced by external vendors.
  • Track and report on the success of content and identify areas for improvement.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is required for this position.
  • 5+ years of experience in content development and educational technology, working with multiple formats and modalities.
  • Familiarity with the Higher Education market is preferred, and experience working with associations and advisory boards is a plus.
  • Supervisory experience, preferred.
  • Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with diverse stakeholders and teams.
  • Thoughtful, strategic, and customer-focused decision-making abilities.
  • Open-minded, diplomatic, and flexible in overcoming obstacles with publishing partners and subject matter experts.
